AG: Gun Was Purchased by Shooter's Ex-Girlfriend
Origin of second weapon still undetermined.
The Ruger .357 revolver recovered from Cullen Mutrie's home at 517 Post Road in Greenland was purchased on Jan. 16 by his ex-girlfriend Brittany Tibbetts at a gun show in Manchester, the attorney general's office announced this afternoon.
A press release issued minutes ago said state police have not yet confirmed the origin of the second gun found at the scene, a 9 mm pistol, but they have determined that it was not one of the weapons seized from Cullen Mutrie in July of 2010. Both the .357 revolver and the 9mm pistol were seized from the house following the April 12 shooting in which Mutrie killed Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney and injured four other officers attempting to serve an arrest warrant.
Mutrie, who was out on $10,000 personal recogizance bail at the time, was forbidden from owning or carrying guns.
The attorney general's office said the investigation is ongoing, but no further information is expected to be released this week.
A memorial run is scheduled for this weekend for Maloney, and the public is invited to participate in or volunteer to help with the event.

That can't be right. According to her mother she was an innocent victim in all this.

To find out that she is just as big a dirt bag as Cullen should surprise nobody.

Funny how she is just as bad as the killer, but everyone was saying how innocent she was!

Hey, folks, granted she ended up not being innocent, but, it could have been that she was coerced by Mutrie into doing things including buying the gun for him. Abused people end up doing things for their abusers out of fear or in hopes of pleasing their abuser. IF she was originally innocent this could be a reason for her actions. Abused people end up becoming robots for their abusers as their own self esteem and self confidence is so low that they can no longer think for themselves. She also may have been too embarrassed about her situation w/ Mutrie to tell her family or friends the real truth of what was going on in their relationship. Very sad for the families and friends of everyone involved.

Only if she were to be "robotic" enough to harm more innocent victims.

Hey Folks, This is America, nobody is responsible or accountable for their actions.

I agree with Jan. As a victim of abuse I can say that these abusers can certainly make a robot out of you. You live in fear. And always want to stay away from any confrontation.

Jan - forget the abused people line. No one forced her to do anything, It was her choice....her decision. She, and only she, was responsible for her decisions and her actions.

Mutrie's mom says she is tired of all this and wants it to go away ?? Wait-a-minute, this was THE most violent event in history for our seacoast area and we will not forget it ever in our lifetime. There will be more and more articles about how did this happen and why did no-one do something to fix his screwed up mind. Chief Maloney knew how dangerous he was and couldn't leave until he was in custody.
God Bless Mike Maloney, thanks is not enough.

When your a victim of abuse you are controlled by the abuser & you end up doing things you wouldn't normally do. Believe me!!! She bought it back in Jan. on the 16th at a gun show you know she was with him & he couldn't buy it who knows what he told her he was going to do with it. I don't know either one of them personally so I cannot & won't judge what did or did not take place. We do all know he killed her so that alone tells us something!!!

God is the only appropriate judge here. Families on both sides are suffering and their pain is only increased by the constant speculation on the motives of those involved. Only God truly knows what was in their hearts.

There are so many ways to look at this tragedy. However you are so right. We can look as at it as, former abused women and see things that stand out. Or as people who knew them or just people with opinions. There is only one who knows the truth and he will be the final judge.
