American Red Cross Relocates

Portsmouth chapter will utilize space at the Seacoast area transitional housing complex.

On February 13, 2012, the American Red Cross in Portsmouth, NH began to co-locate with Cross Roads House at 600 Lafayette Rd Portsmouth. The decision to co-locate with another vital community partner came as a result of assessing local resources and the Red Cross’ commitment to being good stewards of donated dollars.

“Like many other not-for-profits and corporate entities throughout NH, we have had to take a look at how we can continue to provide the highest level of service while maintaining the financial responsibility that guarantees these services for future generations. We are so pleased to have this opportunity to partner with Cross Roads House who is also committed to serving individuals and families living and working in our New Hampshire communities,” said Maria White, CEO of the New Hampshire Region.

We are fortunate that one of the foundations of the American Red Cross is the principle of volunteerism. The very same disaster action teams that for so many years, have opened shelters after severe weather, served hot coffee to firefighters on a winter night, and served disaster-stricken families with water and snacks and a comforting shoulder, will continue to support our neighbors in need at the direction of our increased emergency services staff.

The American Red Cross in New Hampshire has been through many changes since its original charter in 1917, but one thing that has not changed is the compassion of the people who support the organization. It is because of that compassion that we have built a strong network of dedicated volunteers and financial and blood donors. These are phenomenal people who do what they can to help their neighbors.

Chris Sterndale, Executive Director of Cross Roads House states, “We look forward to sharing this opportunity with the American Red Cross. We are confident this partnership will promote cost savings and efficiency measures while enhancing both organizations in our service delivery to the communities we serve.”
