City Man Who Robbed Same Bank Twice Facing Prison Time
Union Leader reports that federal prosecutors hope to have Timothy Burke of Portsmouth sentenced to 3 1/2 years.
A Portsmouth man who police say robbed the same bank twice in one week in 2011 before heading to Las Vegas could face up to 41 months in prison, if federal prosecutors have their way.
The Union Leader reported Friday that the pre-sentencing investigation report for Timothy Burke, 30, of Portsmouth shows probation officials are recommending a 51- to 63-month sentence. The newspaper also reported that Burke is seeking less jail time so he can seek treatment for his drug addiction.
Police say he then boarded a C&J Trailways bus at the Pease Transportation Center and boarded a plane for Las Vegas. Portsmouth Police contacted him there and Burke agreed to return to New Hampshire on his own to face the charges.
