Expensive Jewelry Stolen in Burglary

Police are seeking the public's help in solving the crime.

Portsmouth Police are looking for information on a burglary on Friday where expensive coins and jewelry were stolen from a local home.

Early Friday night, police responded to a residential burglary in the area of South Street and Lafayette Road. The victim reported leaving the home before 9 a.m.

Stolen from the residence were more than 100 silver dollar coins, gold kruggerrands (a type of South African gold coin), a gold pocket watch, a white gold women's pocket watch with an elastic band, a yellow gold cocktail ring with an oval sapphire, a yellow gold cocktail ring with a ruby and diamonds and a sapphire pinky ring with small pearls.

Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or people in the area on Friday or have information on the burglary or any of the missing property is urged to contact Detective Tim Cashman at 603-610-7587.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can also contact Seacoast Crime Stoppers by leaving a tip at 603-431-1199 or at seacoastcrimestoppers.org. You can also text your tip to CRIMES (274637) with the letters "TIPSCS" and leave your tip that way. If your tip leads to an arrest or indictment of the individual you could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.
