UPDATED: President Obama Coming to Strawbery Banke Museum

UPDATED, 4:00 P.M.: An Obama for America-NH official said President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, will be at Strawbery Banke Museum on Friday, Sept. 7.

Ticket distribution information and logistical information will be announced in the coming days, according to the Obama campaign official. Members of the public can stay tuned to nh.barackobama.com or text NH to 62262 to receive event updates.

Earlier story: When President Barack Obama comes to Portsmouth on Friday, Sept. 7, he will be joined by First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, according to the Obama for America-NH campaign.

The details surrounding the location and time when the President, his wife and the Biden's will be in Portsmouth have still not been released, but more information could be made available on Sunday.

According to City Councilor Ken Smith, the White House is leaning toward Prescott Park and some other reports indicate the President may opt for Strawbery Banke Museum across the street.

Last week, Mayor Eric Spear revealed that he had been contacted by the White House via e-mail that President Obama would be coming to the city for a campaign stop a day after the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., ends.

Smith also said he was informed of the same thing by the mayor and that the White House had initially asked if the President could hold his event in Market Square. He also said to cover the cost of local police, fire and public works because it is a campaign event and not an official visit.

According to the Obama for America-NH campaign, President Obama, the First Lady and the Biden's will appear together for a campaign event in New Hampshire on Sept. 7. The President will then travel to Florida to attend some campaign events there on Sept 8 and Sept. 9. Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to travel to Ohio to make some campaign stops there on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.
