1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for a partly sunny day, with a high near 76. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming east. On Tuesday night, there will be a chance of showers, mainly after 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
2. Parrott Avenue paving to begin: According to city officials, the Public Works Department is scheduled to do a repaving project on Parrott Avenue beginning on Wednesday that will cause its share of delays.
3. City annual report out: Portsmouth City Manager John Bohenko released the city's annual report this week which details the services rendered at City Hall over the past year.
4. Outdoor pool closing at 4 p.m. The Peirce Island outdoor pool, located at 48 Peirce Island Road offers open swim between 1 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Monday-Friday, through Aug. 28. The indoor pool on Andrew Jarvis Drive will be closing for scheduled maintenance on Saturday, Aug. 13, and will not reopen until Aug. 29.
5. Library parking changes: The Portsmouth Public Library's main parking lot is temporarily closed due to construction of the new Portsmouth Middle School. Library officials say visitors should park in the library's rear parking lot that can be accessed by a temporary road near the middle school and circle around to the back.
