Guinta Gets Close Look at Tugboat Rescue

NH Congressman was touring NH Port Authority aboard the Eugenia Moran when Miss Stacy tugboat rescue was underway.

U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta, R-NH, ended up seeing a lot more than he expected during his tour of the New Hampshire Port Authority marine terminal in Portsmouth on Tuesday.

According to Derek Dufresne, a member of Guinta's legislative staff, the congressman was actually on the Eugenia Moran tugboat that was touring the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the Eugenia Moran responded to the Memorial Bridge area of the Piscataqua River to tow the Miss Stacy to safety along with the Portsmouth Fire Rescue boat, the U.S. Coast Guard and the New Hampshire Marine Patrol.

In a prepared statement, Guinta expressed his gratitude to all of the public safety agencies that helped rescue the Miss Stacy.

“I’m first and foremost grateful that no one was seriously injured in today’s events. The efforts of the U.S. Coast Guard, New Hampshire Marine Patrol, the Portsmouth and Kittery Fire Departments, and many others this afternoon only further emphasize the important and sometimes dangerous work these individuals do. Granite Staters can be proud of the men and women who are there to answer calls such as these every day,” Guinta said.
