NH Newspaper Endorses Romney

It's the second area paper to endorse the former Massachusetts governor.

Mitt Romney picked up a big endorsement on Sunday from one of the Seacoast's biggest newspaper companies.

Seacoast Media Group, the parent company of the Portsmouth Herald, Hampton Union and Exeter News-Letter, on Sunday announced that it is endorsing Romney for the GOP presidential nomination.

In its endorsement, the company said Romney stands "head and shoulders above the rest of the field" and is the Republican candidate best suited to restoring "health and vigor to the American economy." The endorsement wasn't all positive, though, calling Romney "a good man who is not a great politician," and saying that he is "stiff and lacks the common touch."

The newspaper company's endorsement of Romney follows Foster's Daily Democrat's endorsement of the former Massachusetts governor earlier this month.

Romney now leads the New Hampshire newspaper endorsement battle 2-1 over Newt Gingrich, though Gingrich won what is considered to be the state's biggest newspaper endorsement when the last month. The paper has since run several front page editorials ripping Romney.
