Police Probe Theft of 31 Smuttynose Brewery Kegs

The aluminum kegs were stolen from the Smuttynose Brewery facility on Heritage Avenue sometime on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Police say 31 aluminum beer kegs were stolen from the Smuttynose Brewery facility on Heritage Avenue sometime on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Portsmouth Police Lt. Marc Newport said Wednesday afternoon the theft of the beer kegs, which are worth about $100 each, was reported by a Smuttynose Brewery employee on Wednesday morning. Newport said all of the kegs were empty and the total value of all 31 beer kegs is about $3,100.

Attempts to get comment from Smuttynose Brewery officials on Wednesday afternoon were unsuccessful.
