The Tramontana family announced via Facebook that the Portsmouth Upper Crust location will be closing at the end of the day today, Monday, Feb. 18. The announcement prompted fans of the downtown pizzeria to post comments on the social media site lamenting the loss of one of the city's best pizza joints.
Here's the announcement posted by the Tramontana family, and some of the comments posted in response.
Thanks. We'll email you the next time we update this story.

And the restaurants in Portsmouth come and go. There are simply too many in the city.

This franchisee is not as innocent in the whole UC mess as he appears. He presents himself as a member of both the Portsmouth and NBPT communities. (He lives in NBPT.) Also, the NBPT location has effectively open an hour late due to poor planning on two of the last three occasions that I tried to eat there. The staff was not at all apologetic, and actually was quite rude, on both occasions.
Tramontana and his assistant manager both refused to return calls and emails after the second time. This one involved my being physically grabbed by the elbows and shuffled out the door by his employees because I was told that a Groupon voucher would not be honored even after I accepted that my pizza would be 45 minutes late. I did yell but was not at all threatening. (This is not to mention that the surfer dude looking guy behind the counter had long hair that most likely violated health code standards.)
