YouTube video created by the son of one of the 129 sailors and civilians who perished on USS Thresher submarine 50 years ago on April 10, 1963.

The 50th anniversary of the loss of the USS Thresher (SSN 593) and her 129 sailors and civilians that were on board on April 10, 1963 was observed by hundreds of family members of those lost and political dignitaries at Portsmouth High School Saturday.

Many of the people who attended the 50th annual USS Thresher Memorial service will also attend the USS Thresher (SSN 593) Memorial dedication ceremony at the Kittery Traffic Circle on Sunday at 9 a.m.

In addition to the moving ceremonies held this weekend to remember those who were lost at sea, YouTube also contains several moving videos that have been created by some of the family members who miss their fathers, husbands, uncles, cousins and brothers everyday.

One of those videos was uploaded in 2009 by a man who identified himself as SubSailor2009 and as the son of one of the sailors who were lost. It is a very powerful and moving tribute to the submarine and her crew because it allows people to grasp the real pain and heartfelt loss experienced by so many for so long.
