VIDEO: Lynch Challenges House on Ed Funding

The governor urges House to embrace Senate stand on constitutional amendment.

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch is urging the House to embrace the Senate's position on a proposed amendment to the state Constitution to target aid to public schools.

The four-term Democrat, who is not running for re-election this fall, has fought for a constitutional amendment as a response to the so-called Claremont court decisions since he took office. There is considerable support for such a remedy, but Lynch intimated in his remarks to the Portsmouth Rotary on April 12 that there are obstructionist forces in the House.

"This notion that the state has no responsibility for public education is quite absurd," he said.
