Pro Portsmouth Unveils MSD 2013 Logo

Artist Elissa Von Letkemann’s design was chosen from over 50 submissions.

Pro Portsmouth officials recently unveiled the logo for the 2013 Market Square Day that will take place on June 8 in downtown Portsmouth, according to Foster's Daily Democrat. Foster's Daily Democrat reported that artist Elissa Von Letkemann’s design was selected from a field of more than 50 submissions and will be displayed on all MSD 2013 T-shirts, in the MSD 2013 information booth and on the MSD website. Pro Portsmouth Executive Director Barbara Massar said the winning logo was meant to welcome the city's new Memorial Bridge, which is expected to be completed in July.

Let's Go 'On the Road' This Weekend

Richard Thompson to Open Prescott Park Arts Festival

Judy Collins, Bruce Cockburn and The Head and the Heart round out impressive line-up of summer shows.

Prescott Park Arts Festival officials released their 2013 River House Restaurant Concert Series line-up of artists that will grace the Main Stage this summer beginning with British folk rock legend Richard Thompson. According to Ben Anderson, the PPAF's executive director, Thompson will kick off the concert season on June 30. The Prescott Park Arts Festival's website says that Thompson was "named one of the Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 20 Guitarists of all-time, and a recent recipient of the BBC Lifetime Achievement Award." The PPAF website also said that Thompson's acoustic solor concert will feature material from latest album, "Electric," that he released in 2013. Kids Have a Ball on Children's Day

Thousands of parents and kids enjoyed a Sunday afternoon filled with live music, games, food and fun courtesy of Pro Portsmouth.

Downtown Portsmouth was the place to be on Sunday afternoon for kids of all ages on the 22nd annual Children's Day. The Pro Portsmouth event was blessed with a spectacular sunny spring day that complemented four hours of live music, games, food and face time with characters such as Elmo, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Nemo and many others. Everywhere kids and their parents went, downtown businesses were waiting to offer them free treats and gift items and fun activities that included cookie decorating at Me and Ollie's, free popcorn from Kilwin's, an Extreme Air jump roping demonstration, free cruises up and down the Piscataqua River aboard the M/V Thomas Laighton and a block party on Pleasant Street. Music Hall's Film Matters Takes on Hunger

The documentary, "A Place at the Table," will be screened on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Hunger, an issue that affects 49 million people in the U.S. everyday, will take center stage on Tuesday night at the Music Hall. The Music Hall's Film Matters series will screen the documentary, "A Place at the Table," in conjunction with Share Our Strength, Seacoast Eat Local and End 68 Hours of Hunger. According to a press release issued by the Music Hall, the documentary will show how "49 million people in the U.S. - one in four children - don’t know where their next meal is coming from, despite our having the means to provide nutritious, affordable food for all Americans." NHFF Wins Some National Recognition

MovieMaker Magazine 2013 names New Hampshire Film Festival one of the "Top 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee."

The New Hampshire Film Festival's reputation as a leading showcase for independent filmmakers has been growing every year since it first started in 2000 and now the Portsmouth event has garnered some more national recognition. According to the New Hampshire Film Festival's Facebook page, MovieMaker Magazine 2013 has named the NHFF one of the "Top 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee." MovieMaker Magazine's 2013 list places the New Hampshire Film Festival in the 25- to 48th place worthy of the price of admission. "Come win a ten-pound, hand-carved granite Granny Award for your mantle," is what the magazine wrote about the NHFF.
