Portsmouth Police's 'National Night Out'

1. "National Night Out." Portsmouth police will hold their 19th annual National Night Out Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. The goodwill event "is aimed at fostering partnerships between Portsmouth residents and the Police Department while strengthening and connecting our community," police said. Police and firefighters will visit several city neighborhoods as part of the event.  City residents will be able to talk to officers and get a close look at some of the police cruisers and other equipment officers use in the field.

2. Rain possible. Tuesday will be sunny, with a high near 80 degrees. There's a chance of rain Wednesday.

3. 'Eagle' Says Goodbye. The tall ship "Eagle," which was docked in Portsmouth over the weekend, sailed out of the city Monday morning.
