Exeter Adult Education Spring Classes Begin Soon

Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to get out and do something for you. The following enrichment classes still have openings at Exeter Adult Education.

Computer classes include: Introduction to Word, 5 weeks, beginning Monday March 3, from 6:00 – 8:30pm, $95, Intermediate Excel, 5 weeks, beginning Tuesday, March 19, from 7-9pm, $95 and Introduction to PowerPoint, 2 weeks, beginning Monday, April 7, 6:00-8:30pm, $50.

American Heart Association First Aid – Mike Hall
This course is designed for individuals with limited or no medical training. Students will be trained on basics of first aid, medical emergencies,(including choking, breathing problems, shock) inuries (bleeding, broken bones and burns) as well as environmental emergencies. Students will receive a  HeartSaver First Aid Course Completion Card within 10 days of course completion.
Monday, March 3 or March 24, $50, 6:00-9:00 pm

American Heart Association Heartsaver Adult Cpr/Aed – Mike Hall
This 3-hour interactive course covers adult/child CPR, how to use an AED, how to help choking victims, and how/when to phone 911. You will receive a American Heart Association CPR Adult Certification. Card issued within 10 days of course completion.
Monday, March 10 or March 31, $50 , 6:00-9:00 pm

Boating Safety & Certification - Ron Adams, Amoskeag Sail and Power Squadron
This class, authorized by the NH Div. of Safety, will enable participants to be in compliance with the NH requirement to hold a boating certificate.  Includes mandatory and recommended equipment, NH specific rules and basic seamanship.  Valuable to boaters who operate with less than 26 hp.
  Tuesdays 5 wks, starting March 4, $50 single/$70 couple, 6:00-8:00pm

Bokwa® Fitness - Josephine Doroja                                  
BOKWA® is a new Group Fitness Program that is rapidly growing. BOKWA® is not really a dance workout – there is no choreography and no counting steps. Participants draw letters and numbers with their feet, while moving together to music in free form rhythm. If you can move and you can spell, you can do Bokwa®. Class held in the Talbot Gym.
Mondays, 5 weeks, beginning March 31, $50 5:30-6:30 pm

Finding your Purpose in today’s workforce –Mary Eisenhauer
This highly participative two-night class is geared toward career changers, those re-entering the workforce or anyone questioning their current career path. We will discuss and complete exercises on finding your life purpose, personality type, and managing change, to help position you for a satisyfing career - in whatever stage of it you may be.

General Music - David Pastore
Learn everything you've always wanted to know about basic music theory, reading music, rhythms, different types of instruments, and music history.  Mondays, 5 weeks, beginning March 3, $60                     6:30-7:30 pm

Job Search and Marketability Strategies - Mary Eisenhauer
This two-night class will discuss enhancing your marketability, writing an effective resume and analyzing the job market. We will review tools for job searching such as LinkedIn, Monster, networking events and more, to determine the right approach for your own search. Thursdays, 2 weeks, beginning March 27, $40, 6:00-8:00 pm

 

Native People Of New England - Dana Brenner
Increase understanding of original inhabitants of New England from earliest times to present-day. Focus on this era of history through a Native American viewpoint. Tuesdays, 6 weeks, beginning April 15, $50, 6:00-8:00 pm
  
Native Colonial Warfare In New England - Dana Brenner
Review overlooked events such as the Pequot War, King Phillip’s War, King George’s War, French and Indian War & American Revolution and study the effects of these conflicts on colonial/Indian relations.
 Tuesdays, 6 weeks, beginning March 11, $50, 6:00-8:00 pm

 Retirement:  If, When and How – Janet Tucker
In these uncertain times the concept of retirement has become less clear and certain.  The questions we ask ourselves are “if”, “when” and “how”, as well as “what will it look like for me”.  Explore and begin to design your own version using the pieces of your personal puzzle.  For couples and singles.

Considering your own business or want to take your business to the next level? Learn the steps necessary to run a business in a effective and legal way - bookkeeping, taxes, insurance and marketing. Understanding Choices for Social Security - Bonnie Staniewicz.
See how Social Security is much more than simply determining whether to file before, at, or after your full retirement age.  Learn about strategies such as standard filing, restricted benefits, file and suspend benefits and/or using a combination of these strategies.  One night course, Tuesday, March 4 or Thursday, April 17 $15, 5:30-6:45pm
