Sports Physical Clinics

July 31, 2013 - Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics would like to thank the thousands of local families who have taken advantage of the Sports Physical Clinic program over the past 15 years.  With your help and with the support and cooperation of dozens of local schools, Athletic Directors, Coaches, parents and partnering physicians, Access has raised more than $15,000 for local school athletic programs while providing free and convenient pre-participation sports physicals to local athletes.

Since 1999, Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics has offered pre-participation sports physical exam clinics.  The program was started by Dr. Joshua Siegel as a free service to help accommodate athletes and their families.  "We realized that families could not afford a physical or they were not able to get a physical scheduled on short notice, so we decided to start offering them at our Exeter location," says Siegel, Director of Sports Medicine at Access. "The program is very well received and by requesting a $5 donation from each athlete we are able to return all proceeds to the local schools."

As Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics has grown, the clinics are now offered in four convenient locations.  Last year between the four clinics, 500 students received a sports physical and more than $2000 was raised for the athletic programs of several local schools.

There are still three more clinics for 2013.  They will be held on Thursday, August 1st from 5-7pm at 155 Borthwick Avenue in Portsmouth, Monday, August 5th from 5-7pm at One Hampton Road in Exeter and Wednesday, August 7th from 5-7pm at 13 Plaistow Road in Plaistow.  The cost of the exam is $5.00 and it will be returned as a donation to area school's athletic programs.  No appointments are necessary and athletes will be seen on a walk-in basis. All middle and high school students are required to have a pre-participation physical exam before competing in school sports.  Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics offers the sports physicals to area students of all grade levels.

It is important to note that this physical exam should not replace an annual physical or check-up with a pediatrician or primary care physician.
