Outpouring of Support for City Teen Struck by Car

Alejandro Sanchez was recovering in an intensive care unit Tuesday.

The community is coming together to support a 15-year-old boy who was seriously injured after he was struck by a car last week.

Alejandro Sanchez, of Portsmouth, was recovering from head injuries in the intensive care unit at Boston Children's Hospital Tuesday. He was listed in fair condition.

Police said he was hit near the Dunkin' Donuts in Lafayette Plaza at about 9:25 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was Julie Cummings, 37, of Portsmouth, police said. An investigation into the crash is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed, police said.

Sanchez is a student at Portsmouth High School and plays baseball.
