'Scarecrows of the Port' Coming Back This Fall

The annual display features pumpkin-headed creatures downtown.

The "Scarecrows of the Port" display is coming back to Portsmouth this fall.

The pumpkin-headed creatures will be erected in the downtown area, among other locations, from Oct. 10 to Nov. 1.

The display is organized by the Scarecrows of the Port Committee, which includes local business associations and other groups. This year will be the sixth season the committee has put up the display.

The group encourages residents and businesses to join in by erecting their own displays.
