Catch all your favorite fairy-tale characters as they invade Prescott Park this summer! Shrek has been announced as the musical for Prescott Park Arts Festival's 2014 summer season. Wilcox Industries COO, Laurie Teetzel and CEO, Jim Teetzel, made the announcement of the selected musical for the Festival's 40th season at a VIP reception at the 100 Club yesterday evening.

The Festival is bringing the brand-new musical to Prescott Park for the first time. Shrek the Musical brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who can’t keep quiet, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

The 2013 summer musical, Annie, was a wild success for children and adults alike, and the Festival expects nothing less for its upcoming rendition of Shrek.

"We’re thrilled to be welcoming Billy Butler back as director for a third season," says Executive Director, Ben Anderson. "With the team we have in place, we’re confident that this is going to be a phenomenal production."

The first performance of Shrek will be on Friday, June 27th on the Wilcox Industries Mainstage in Prescott Park, and will be held every Thursday through Sunday during the summer season. Auditions for the musical's host of characters will be held on March 24th, March 25th, March 29th, and March 30th, at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. More information will be available on Prescott Park Arts Festival website (www.prescottpark.org), Facebook and Twitter pages, or by calling the Festival office at 603-436-2848.

Prescott Park Arts Festival, a non-profit organization, is the Seacoast's premier outdoor performing arts venue, offering a uniquely accessible experience of high quality live theater and music – no fixed admissions fees – in an idyllic natural setting.
