Cornerstone Praises and Expresses Concern Over Our Senators

Last Thursday two important developments occurred in the United States Senate that would be of interest to New Hampshire citizens.

First, Senator Lindsey Graham introduced the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, and Senator Kelly Ayotte signed on as a co-sponsor.  Senator Ayotte has been a strong pro-life leader in the U.S. Senate and we thank her for her continued support in advancing the pro-life cause.

Cornerstone has contacted Senator Shaheen’s office to see whether or not she will be supporting this legislation.  As of this morning, her office has yet to respond.

Second, the U.S. Senate voted and passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).  Cornerstone is sad to report and deeply disappointed that both Senator Ayotte and Senator Shaheen voted in favor of ENDA.

Not only do we at Cornerstone believe that ENDA as federal law is unenforceable, but it will spur litigation that in turn could be used to intimidate people of faith in companies who can't afford lawsuits. This legislation would create thousands more lawsuits and as a result would have a negative impact on small businesses across the country if passed.

Cornerstone-Action and Cornerstone Policy Research are non-partisan, non-profit organizations dedicated to preserving New Hampshire’s traditional values, limited government, and free markets through education, information and advocacy. Our vision is to create an environment in which strong families—the foundation of our society—can lead New Hampshire into a new era of prosperity and strength.
