Downtown Portsmouth Restaurant to Close

The Green Monkey will close after 10 years.

The Green Monkey in downtown Portsmouth will close for good Friday, according to owner Deb Gootee-Weeks.

"It is with my utmost love and mixed emotions to inform everyone that The Green Monkey Restaurant, after an amazing 10 year run, will be closing," Gootee-Weeks wrote on her restaurant's website.

The restaurant specializes in "New American" cuisine.

Below Goatee-Weeks' closure announcement:

Hello to all of my Green Monkey friends, family and wonderful customers. It is with my utmost love and mixed emotions to inform everyone that The Green Monkey Restaurant, after an amazing 10 year run, will be closing on Friday August 30th, 2013.

Please join me and my fabulous team in the celebration of The Green Monkey's life on one of our final nights in business: Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday - August 27, 28 or 29th. We would love to see you one last time to say thank you and good-bye.

What's next for Deb you may be wondering? After a little bit of down time I'll be exploring some new opportunities that have presented themselves since the news has leaked out as well as working on an exciting new venture (stay tuned).

A heartfelt "thank you" to everyone for your sincere love and loyalty to me and the Green Monkey Restaurant.

Let's celebrate the next few days in Green Monkey style with "Fun, Food and Libations."

I hope to "Meet you at the Monkey" one final time.
