LoMo has closed for good.

The downtown restaurant on Pleasant Street was open for just three months. It replaced the old Green Monkey eatery.

LoMo was short for "Local Movement." Owner Dan Dumont sourced ingredients from local farms like Applecrest Farm and Breezy Hill Farm.

“Unfortunately, due to the extent of our renovations, the timing for the launch of LoMo coincided with the slower restaurant season in Portsmouth," Dumont said in a statement. "At this time, the number of customers in town is just not enough to sustain the business. However, we love the culinary culture of Portsmouth and have definite plans to keep our ambition for a locally sustained eatery alive.”

He said LoMo could "resurface."

"The new drive for farm-to-table restaurants is taking hold across the country," he said.

That stinks, I was going to try it soon. Seems like poor planning to open up during the offseason and then close before spring and summer when business would have likely taken off.

Portsmouth area has too many restaurants for the population in the area. You can't force feed people.
