RiverRun Bookstore Opens New Spot in Kittery

A new cafe is also set to open next door in the next few weeks.

Portsmouth-based RiverRun Bookstore on Saturday opened its second location in Kittery, Maine.

The new location is at 7 Wallingford Sq. near one of the entrances to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

"As downtown Kittery grows and becomes an exciting place to visit, we are excited to be a part of that," owner Tom Holbrook previously said.

A bunch of new restaurants and shops have opened in that area in recent years, including The Black Birch and Rudders Public House.

Lil's Cafe is also set to open next door to RiverRun in the next few weeks, and The Juicery is building a new location nearby.

Holbrook almost closed RiverRun in 2011 due to financial problems. About a dozen members of the local community came on as part-owners, and many others gave donations that allowed Holbrook to keep the store open.
