Allegiant Air: Low Fares, Free Parking for Portsmouth

Pease Development Authority officials announced Tuesday morning that Allegiant Air will offer passenger air service in Portsmouth again starting this fall.

Allegiant Air last served Portsmouth International Airport six years ago.

Eric Fletcher, an Allegiant Air manager, said, "We've been eyeing a return ever since we left."

He also said patrons can purchase round trip tickets to Orlando, Fla., for $99. The first flight will be on Oct. 25.

"The fares are always going to be shockingly low," Mullen said, adding there will be free parking.

When asked why Allegiant Air left Portsmouth in 2007, Fletcher said the company just felt they need to put their resources elsewhere at that time. Fletcher said the airline, which is headquartered in Las Vegas, could not say if they will offer flights from Portsmouth to Las Vegas.

Fletcher also said people can book a hotel and rental car along withering airline tickets that can be purchased on Allegiant's web site. AllegiantAir.com.

When asked why Allegiant Air may do better in Portsmouth than they fared in 2007, Fletcher said they have grown as a company, they offer competitive fares and serve airports that offer travelers a more hassle-free experience.

Flights will be offered on Mondays and Fridays with jets that seat up to 160 passengers, he said.
