Jim Splaine Back on Political Scene

Splaine, 66, was first elected to the council when he was 22.

Jim Splaine, a longtime state representative, was elected to the City Council Tuesday.

Splaine is now the assistant mayor, as he received the second-highest number of votes. Bob Lister was elected mayor after capturing the highest vote total.

Splaine, 66, first served on the council when he was 22 years old. He went on to serve for 12 years—six as assistant mayor.

Splaine also served in the Legislature for 30 years. He helped preserve New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation status for the presidential primary.
