John Cavanagh, a Portsmouth resident who served in the U.S. Submarine Service during World War II, died Dec. 4. He was 84.
He served aboard the USS Corporal, according to his obituary. He was also a life member of Pipefitters Union Local 131.
"John enjoyed the companionship of his many dogs, raising farm animals and hunting/ fishing," his obituary reads.
