OBITUARY: Benjamin R. Harris

Newington resident was killed in a workplace accident at Redhook Brewery.

Newington – Benjamin R. Harris, 26, of Newington died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

He was born on November 22, 1985 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania the son of Naomi R. (Shields) Harris and the late Arle R. Harris.

Ben was currently employed for Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth.

He enjoyed basketball, golfing and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.

Beside his mother, of New Brighton, PA, survivors include his wife, Alysha and his expected child of Newington; his paternal grandmother, Elouise Goehring of Conway, PA; a sister, Christy Kettering and her life partner, Jeffrey Hashey of Portsmouth; three nephews, Jaden, Logan and Connor Hashey all of Portsmouth; aunts, uncles and cousins and his dog, Spencer. Ben is also survived by all his dear friends and co-workers at Redhook Brewery.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Redhook Brewery, 1 Redhook Way, Portsmouth, with a reception immediately following. Friends invited. A memorial service in his hometown in Pennsylvania will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contribution be made to the: The Alysha Miller Harris Baby Fund c/o TD Bank, 20 International Drive, Portsmouth, NH 03801, (603) 430-3812, to benefit his unborn child.
