Shipyard Worker Killed in Motorcycle Crash Remembered

A Portsmouth Naval Shipyard worker killed in a motorcycle crash in Portsmouth last week is being mourned.

Anthony J. Facella, 51, of Epping, died Friday. Police said he was driving a Harley-Davidson in Portsmouth when he somehow lost control on Route 16 northbound coming off the traffic circle. He was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, but he died before arrival, police said.

Facella leaves a wife and two sons, according to his obituary. For the last few years he was a mechanical engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

"Anthony was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, and friend," his obituary reads. "He always put others first and was a very giving, thoughtful and hard-working man. Family, friends and co-workers alike, regarded him as one of the very best of men — kind, compassionate, and gentle to all. He will be dearly missed."

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory in Hampton.
