The following is the obituary for Anthony Rahn, a diver whose body was found in Portsmouth Saturday.

Anthony "Tony" Rahn passed away on July 19, 2013. Tony was born on March 26 1944. He leaves behind his wife, Martha Fuller Rahn of Portsmouth, two sons, Patrick Rahn and wife, Marlow of Stratham and Zachary Rahn of Denver; two daughters, Erica Rahn and husband, Jay of Greenland and Alison Rahn of Gloucester, Mass.; his mother, Jean LaChance of Rye; a brother Stephen Rahn and wife, MaryAnn of Grand Blanc, Mich., Cathy Youngs of Portsmouth and Kenny Rahn and wife, Darleen of Newington. Tony is also survived by four granddaughters, two grandsons, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his grandson, Bradley Anthony.

A retired physical education teacher of 28 years at Dondero Elementary School and most recently at Newington Elementary School, Tony was a key figure in the local community; coaching, umpiring and building lasting relationships with his students, athletes and neighbors. He was an extremely active member of the community and had many hobbies. Tony was instrumental in the development of the Portsmouth Girls Softball Association League and the Portsmouth Elementary basketball league.

Those who know Tony will remember him for his humor, ability to say whatever was on his mind and bring smiles to everyone in the room. A lifetime member of the Elks Club, he loved cards, coaching and umpiring and spending time with his family.

A lifelong fisherman, Tony spent countless hours on the water doing what he loved most. Tony's love for the water and lobstering was only outweighed by his love for family. He will be missed by his immediate and extended family along with the entire Seacoast community.
