YMCA of Greater Manchester President/CEO, Hal Jordan (L), and Board of Trustees Chair, Don St.Germain(R) present Coleen Penacho(C) with the 2013 chairman’s award.

Coleen Penacho has served as the YMCA of the Seacoast advisory board chair since 2009. Coleen led the advisory board through tough financial times and a strategic merger with the YMCA of Greater Manchester.  Without Coleen’s leadership and dedication, it is likely that the YMCA of the Seacoast would have shut its doors. However, due to the merger and other experienced management resources, the YMCA of the Seacoast has re-emerged as a strong organization with improved programs and a dedication to the YMCA mission. It is this hard work and planning that has earned Coleen the Y’s 2013 chairman award.

Coleen also serves on the YMCA of Greater Manchester board of trustees. In this role, she has helped to foster the relationship between the two organizations that are now one.

Other 2013 award recipients included Hannah Defresne, and Libby Sheppard as youths of the year, Denise and Stephen Langley for volunteers of the year, Doug Ewing, Gail Houle, and Susan Riffert also received the chairman’s award, and community service awards went to Albany International and Hesson & Pare, CPAs.
