Planes spraying along Seacoast

I would love to know why there are so many planes spraying along the Seacoast. I moved here a year ago and it's notably worse here (rarely blue skies, trails that form hazy cloud cover, chemical sunsets) than my previous location near the Great Lakes. Many of the planes are gray jets that head back to Pease but that is supposed to be a refueling-only AFB, no?
