Judge: Jim Reams Should Be Reinstated

Suspended Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams appears to have won a round in court to regain his office.

A judge has found that embattled Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams should be reinstated because it is unlawful for the New Hampshire Attorney General to keep him suspended absent criminal proceedings, according to WMUR.

The Attorney General's office has a window in which to appeal the judge's opinion.

Attorney General Joseph A. Foster suspended Reams for what was later called "official misconduct," including alleged sexual harassment. Reams fought the suspension, and continues to rebut the charges.

Reams, who has said he is not running for re-election, was suspended Nov. 6, 2013 and Foster filed a formal petition last month to have him removed from office.

Reams and the Attorney General's office were in Merrimack County Superior Court on Monday to argue competing motions in the case.
