UPDATE: Memorial Run for Chief Maloney Postponed

The 5.4-mile road race was originally scheduled for Sunday.

UPDATED, 3:45 P.M.: The memorial run for Chief Michael Maloney has been postponed until Sunday, April 29, according to event organizers.

The run had originally been scheduled for this Sunday, but was postponed due to the high level of interest in the event. The rest of the details are expected to remain the same.

"It is true everyone. The race has to be postponed. This was NOT our decision. We were ready for you!! We had food, transportation, DJ, water table etc. But this event got so big so fast that legal issues pertaining to permits and insurance were brought up by the city," wrote Christine Bisset Lukacz on the Greenland Police Department's Facebook page. "We were informed we had to obtain a permit which meant we had to obtain insurance. We were unable to obtain insurance on such short... notice."
