Nine Men Arrested in Drug Sweep

Portsmouth Police charge perpetrators with either drug possession or drug sales.

Portsmouth Police arrested nine men on Tuesday during a drug sweep, according to court documents.

Michael E. King, 29, of 600 Lafayette Road was charged with three felonies of sale of controlled narcotic drugs, according to an affidavit filed by Portsmouth police Officer Lucacz in Portsmouth District Court.

King allegedy sold Roxicodone to an informant working with police on Nov. 8, 2011 for $245 and again on Nov. 23, 2011 for $300, according to court documents. King then allegedly sold $200 worth of cocaine to a police informant on Nov. 14, 2011. King posted $800 cash bail on Wednesday and is scheduled to return to Portsmouth District Court for a probable cause hearing on March 28.

Police also arrested Bricky Butler, 50, of 64 Manor Drive, for sale of controlled narcotic drugs. According to a police affidavit filed by Portsmouth Police Det. Robert Munson, Butler allegedly sold $60 worth of Roxicodone to an informant on Nov. 28, 2011. Butler posted his $200 cash bail and is also scheduled to return to district court for a probable cause hearing on March 28.

Mesfen Rowell, 23, of 150 Lafayette Road in Rye was charged with two counts of sale of controlled narcotic drugs. An affidavit filed by Portsmouth Police Officer Richard Webb states that Rowell allegedly sold $300 worth of Roxicodone to an informant on Dec. 12, 2011 and $60 worth of Percocet to an informant on Feb. 21, 2012.

Rowell, who was previously convicted of burglary, is being held on $1,000 cash bail. He is scheduled for a probable cause hearing in district court on March 28.

Police also arrested Brendan McCarthy, 25, of 600 Lafayette Road for three counts of sale of controlled narcotic drugs. Webb's affidavit states that McCarthy allegedly sold Kadian to a police informant on Dec. 30, 2011, then Dilaudid on Jan. 11 and Fentanyl on Jan. 13, 2012.

McCarthy is being held on $1,000 cash bail and is scheduled for a probable cause hearing in district court on March 28, according to court documents.

According to the Portsmouth Police log, five other men were also charged in Tuesday's drug sweep:

  • Bernard Molloy, 55, of 140 Court St. # 410, was charged for sale of controlled narcotic drugs.
  • Korey Michael Gilman, 41, of 140 Court St., #217, was charged with two counts of sale of controlled narcotic drugs.
  • Dale Danley, 27, of 361 Miller Ave. #4, was charged with one count of possession of controlled narcotic drugs.
  • Julian Adel Russell, 19, of 19 Pearce St., Dover, was charged with two counts of sale of controlled narcotic drugs.
  • Christopher Fleming, 25, of 36 Taylor Lane, was charged with one count of sale of controlled/narcotic drugs.
