The incident was reported around 11 a.m.

A Coast Guard plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Portsmouth International Airport after striking multiple birds on Monday.

The initial call came in around 11 a.m., according to emergency radio broadcasts. There were reportedly eight people on board the aircraft. The plane was ultimately able to land safely, and crews assisted the plane to a parking area.

According to the Associated Press, the CN-235 twin turboprop plane had just taken off from Pease when it hit the birds and the pilot decided to return to the airport. No damage was found and the plane was able to take off soon afterward.
