Police Investigate Armed Robbery of Hanscom's Truck Stop

Portsmouth police say the robbery brandished a knife at the clerk before emptying the cash register.

Portsmouth Police are investigating an armed robbery of Hanscom's Truck Stop on the Route 1 Bypass that occurred at about 1:18 a.m. June 30.

Police said the robber brandished a knife at the clerk. He is described as a white man, about 5'8", and 140 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a black or deep-blue hooded sweatshirt with a long white shirt underneath. He had a navy blue bandana covering his face when he entered the store.

The man emptied the cash register and fled on foot. Portsmouth Police K-9 Officer Scott Pearl, with K-9 Steel, traced the tracks up Cutts Avenue to Maplewood Avenue, but the track went cold in the area of Cutts Mansion, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information about the case call Det. Duane Jacques at 610-7535

Portsmouth Police continue to investigate the armed robbery at the Cabot Street Market on June 24. While there is not enough information to determine if the two crimes are related, police also re-released information and surveillance images from that case. Those photos may be seen here.
