Police Taser Hospital Patient Who Barricaded Himself in Room

The following information was provided by the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Tuesday:

  • At 8:09 a.m., police reported a motor vehicle accident on Woodbury Avenue.
  • At 8:19 a.m., police reported criminal trespass at South Street after the caller said a man was seen sleeping in the South Street cemetery for the past few weeks.
  • At 12:40 p.m., police reported an animal call on Daniel Street after the caller said someone just handed him his pitfull on a leash to hold it for a while and then never returned.
  • At 2:02 p.m., police reported a hit and run motor vehicle accident on Market Street and Michael Succi Drive after the caller said another driver side swiped their vehicle and left the scene.
  • At 2:24 p.m., police arrested a Somersworth man for drunken driving on Lafayette Road. David R. Parent, 31, of 65 Crystal Spring Way, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
  • At 2:46 p.m., police reported a theft of a book bag and some change on Farm Lane.
  • At 6:47 p.m., police reported a suicide attempt on Market Street after a male subject walked into a store and told the store clerk that he felt suicidal. The Portsmouth Fire Department responded to the scene and transported him to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
  • At 11:27 p.m., police reported disorderly conduct at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on Borthwick Avenue after a male patient barricaded himself in his room. Police officers tasered the male patient and hospital staff put him in restraints so he could be given medicine.
