2 Accused of Selling Heroin

Portsmouth police say they have seen a significant uptick in heroin and related crimes over the past year.

Portsmouth police arrested two local men on charges of selling heroin, the result of a lengthy investigation into the scourge of the narcotic drug in New Hampshire.

Patrick Pickford, 30, and Chandler Ricker, 19, both of 3 Sheridan Ave. in Portsmouth, were taken into custody and charged after detectives executed a search and arrest warrant April 17, Portsmouth Police said.

Pickford was charged with three counts of sales of a narcotic drug and one count of possession of heroin with intent to distribute. Police said Pickford was already out on felony bail from the state of Maine for Possession of Heroin.

Ricker faces one count of sale of a narcotic drug and one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin.

Police seized approximately $1,000 worth of heroin along with an undisclosed amount of cash, and paraphernalia.

Portsmouth police say they have seen a significant uptick in heroin sales, use and related crimes over the past year. A contributing factor has been the low street price of the drug when compared with the street price of its pharmaceutical counterparts.

Police said they used used confidential informants and undercover officers during the investigation, as well as information provided by the community, which contributed to the arrests.
