Portsmouth Politician Hits Pedestrian with Car, Police Say

Martha Fuller Clark jumped a curb and hit a woman on a sidewalk, police said.

State Sen. Martha Fuller Clark (D-Portsmouth) struck a pedestrian with her vehicle Friday night, police said.

Fuller Clark, 70, was driving alone in her silver Audi on Maplewood Avenue near Hanover Street when she jumped a curb and hit a woman on a sidewalk, police said.

The woman, Carla Dow, 67, of 25 Goose Point Road in Kittery Point, Maine was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.

The crash happened at about 8:30 p.m., police said.

Police said Fuller Clark was not injured. There was no indication that she was impaired or under the influence of intoxicating substances, according to police.
