City Manager John Bohenko Gets High Marks in Evaluation

Bohenko has served as city manager since 1997.

City Manager John Bohenko earned a rave review from the City Council in its annual evaluation of his performance.

"The city manager's overall performance continues to be excellent to exceptional," Assistant Mayor Robert Lister said this week. "We're proud to have Mr. Bohenko as the Portsmouth city manager."

Bohenko has served as city manager since 1997.

City Councilor Nancy Novelline Clayburgh praised Bohenko for maintaining the city's high bond rating.

"When we go out to borrow money, it's going to cost us less and that's a savings to our taxpayers," she said. "We're really fortunate to have a city manager like John Bohenko. I think he's probably one of the best in the whole country."

Bohenko also earned a glowing review last year.
