South End Residents Challenge Ice Skating Rink Plan

A Rockingham County Superior Court judge will now decide an appeal that is challenging the city Board of Adjustment's decision to grant a variance.

Several South End residents are mounting some stiff opposition to Strawbery Banke's proposed ice skating rink plan by taking their case to a Rockingham County Superior Court judge, according to Foster's Daily Democrat.

The daily newspaper reported on Monday that 16 Portsmouth residents who live near where the proposed project would be constructed filed a formal appeal of the city Board of Adjustment ruling in June that granted Strawbery Banke officials a variance to proceed with their plan.

Earlier this year, Strawbery Banke officials told the City Council they want to build a $300,000 outdoor ice skating rink called Puddle Dock Pond that would be open to the public.
