Work Session Tuesday on McIntyre Building's Future

Federal and city officials are expected to take part.

Federal and city officials will hold a work session on Tuesday night to discuss the future of the Thomas J. McIntyre Federal Building.

Representatives for U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter are expected to attend the 6 p.m. session at City Hall. Also attending will be members of the City Council and Robert Zarnetske, regional administrator for U.S. General Services Administration. Among the items that will be discussed will be the current status of conveyance of the building to the city and the long-term utilization of the 2-acre property.

The city has been talking with federal officials for a decade about taking ownership of the building. Located at 80 Daniel St., it has been discussed in the past as one piece of a multi-tiered approach to addressing the city's downtown parking shortage.

At the City Council's regular meeting, at 7 p.m., items on the agenda include adoption of the Capital Improvements Plan, approval of a fire union contract, and a sign application for a new juice bar on Congress Street.
