An evening of Mixed Experiences
Last night was perfection for me too over in Kittery Point where I'd been invited to attend a party put on by Old York Association or some such. The new owners of the Lady Pepperell house, my fave, held a champagne party on the lawn followed by a tour of their lovingly restored home. Stunning - unchanged, just maintained and wisely centrally A/C's. This was followed by a cocktail party on the lawn of perhaps the ugliest home i've ever visited. everything was over the top overshadowing the lovely river site with a guest cottage , dock and pier. Money has no taste proven yet again. The showcased decorators did the best they could under daunting circumstances. As I was driving home just at dusk, the red light turned on on the bridge and I was first in line as the gates went down. knowing that they would remain down for awhile as a cruise ship was waiting to depart, i got out and walked right up almost to the seam of the lift and stood on the outcropping which gives one a Titanic Bow feel and just took it all in...Every one of my senses was enhanced to the max. i hated it when the bell rang and i had to hurry back to my car and rush home to reality and watch the debacle of city government at play.
