New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Endorses Obama

Now he'll never win a GOP nomination for president.

This is just a short post to note that when New Jersey Governor Chris Christie effusively praised President Barack Obama for his personal response to the disaster caused by Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey, it did two things:

First, it constituted an unofficial endorsement of the president.  Next, it sent out a powerful signal to all voters what Christie's private assessment of the state of the election is.  He obviously thinks Obama is on track to win.

Christie has been a significant surrogate in the Romney campaign.  If Governor Mitt Romney was in the lead, Christie would be pinning his hopes on a future career linked to his relationship with a new, incoming Republican White House administration and a reinvigorated party, but Christie's behavior showed instead that he wasn't too worried about disappointing the former governor.  He sent a powerful signal to voters that encourages Democrats and discourages Republicans.  He thinks Obama is winning.

So go ahead and blather on about bipartisanship.  Christie's career has reached its electoral cap.  Once touted as a likely future presidential candidate for the Republcan Party, he won't win a GOP nomination now.  His gushing praises for Obama betrayed his candidate and his party and won't be forgiven.  A Democratic President might appoint him to something---head of FEMA maybe.
