My hobby is photography, and one of my favorite types of scenes is a nighttime photograph of lighted situations. Christmastime presents great opportunities to practice that kind of photography, except that it's usually so blasted cold. Brr!
Anyway, there's a neighborhood full of mansions near my home where a very high percentage of the houses are quite nicely decorated for the holiday season. This is a photograph of my favorite one. It's very symmetrically decorated with impeccable taste and discipline. The color scheme is delightful.
After making the photo the other night, I went up to the house, rang the bell and waited until a pretty lady opened the door.
I said, "Hi, I'm Stephen, and both Senator John McCain and Governor Mitt Romney said that if America elected Barack Obama for president we'd get socialism, and that the rich would have to share their wealth. Please give me your car keys."
She slammed the door and I went back to my car, puzzled. I'm pretty sure she called the police because they were turning into the neighborhood with the blue lights flashing as I was driving away.
The whole Republican Party has been saying that, since we voted for, elected and reelected Barack Obama, the United States is now socialist. Oh yeah? Then when is the socialism going to get here? There's some beach property that I've got my eye on.
