'All-Star' Seacoast Athletes to Represent NH Against VT This Weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend? There's plenty on tap on New Hampshire's Seacoast.

Looking for something fun to do on the Seacoast this weekend? Here are some ideas (and be sure to tell us about the things you did and show us the pictures you took by posting on Patch or by e-mailing Kyle Stucker at Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com):

1. Cheer on Local Athletes: Three accomplished Seacoast high school athletes and three respected local coaches will put their skills to the test Saturday as they represent New Hampshire in an annual soccer match against Vermont.

Exeter High School's Matt Vlasich (an All-State First Team selection), Winnacunnet High School's senior captain Ryan Gigliotti (an All-State honorable mention selection), Winnacunnet boys' head coach Nick Rowe (New Hampshire's Division 1 Coach of the Year), and Newmarket High School boys head coach Chris Morril will represent the Seacoast on the boys' squad.

Annaliese Schmidt, a First Team All-State goalkeeper from Newmarket, and Newmarket High School girls' head coach Andrew Dawson, a Hampton resident who was named this year's N.H. Division 4 Coach of the Year, will represent the girls' team.

2. Enjoy the Fair: The 46th annual Stratham Fair opens Thursday and runs through Sunday.

This year, a new beer tent joins a long list of the fair's annual favorite activities, including a barbecue, farm animals, fireworks, and the Miss Stratham Fair.

3. Go to a Festival: There also are two different annual, family-friendly festivals on the Seacoast this weekend.

Portsmouth's Greek Festival opens Friday and runs through Sunday, while Exeter's American Independence Festival is Saturday.

4. Get Your Hunt On: There's a mall-wide scavenger huntSaturday at Fox Run Mall in Newington.

The Seacoast area's biggest mall will be filled with clues, hidden treasures, crafts, activities and surprises for children and parents looking to have some interactive fun.

5. Take in a Special Concert: A variety of accomplished musicians will descend on Music Makers in North Hampton on Sunday for a special live, family-friendly performance.

Also, there are a variety of performances and concerts at the Hampton Beach Seashell Stage, Portsmouth's Prescott Park and the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom this weekend.

What else is going on? You tell us! There are plenty of other events, but we want to know what you're going to do. Tell us in the comments!
