11 Things To Do in NH This Weekend

Summer is officially here Saturday and there is plenty of action in New Hampshire this weekend. Here are 11 things to do.

Patty Griffin at Prescott Park in Portsmouth: The Prescott Park Arts Festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary and Grammy Award-winner Patty Griffin kicks it all off on June 21.

George Thorogood & The Destroyers: George Thorogood and the Destroyers (with Tom Hambridge and The Rattlesnakes) play the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach on June 20 and June 21. On Sunday, June 22, Matisyahu (with Kevin Kinsella) plays the Casino Ballroom.

Live Music with Scarlet Keyes:  The pianist, singer-songwriter plays some jazz and contemporary sets at Demeters Steakhouse in Portsmouth at 7 p.m., June 20, at 3612 Lafayette Road. 

2014 Master Sand Sculpting Competition – It's under way at Hampton Beach, with the competition Thursday to Saturday. The awards are given out at 8 p.m Saturday, and fireworks follow at 9:30 p.m.

"Art With a Splash" – Paint/Sip Art Studio: Enjoy some fine art with your own sippage (BYOB) at 11 Main St., Nashua, at 2 p.m. on June 21. From Art with a Splash: An instructor will walk you through step-by-step to recreate a masterpiece you can call your own. No experience necessary. 

Witches in Popular Culture: The Hampton Historical Society has an interesting event Friday, June 20, at 7 p.m. at the Tuck Museum, 40 Park Ave., Hampton. "Has the idea of 'witch' changed over the centuries?" The event will look over historic and modern images of witches. Following the presentation, Cheryl Lassiter will read from her book, "The Mark of Goody Cole."

Celebrate Craft Beer:  The Craft Beer Cellar in Nashua is celebrating New Hampshire Craft Beer Week with tastings and specials all week long. Check them out, they are located at 108 Spit Brook Road, Nashua.

Jeremy Bushnell: The Weirdness and Rachel Cantor: A Highly Unlikely Scenario – 7 p.m., June 20, at RiverRun Bookstore at 142 Fleet st., Portsmouth. Stop by the RiverRun Bookstore for books, books, books and see their website, too.

Huge Yard Sale: The 4th annual Community Yard sale at Watson Park in Merrimack is Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gallery Talk: Bellamy's Masonic and Fraternal Work – Discover Portsmouth has a great event at 11 a.m. June 21 at its venue – 10 Middle St. – featuring Aimee E. Newell, director of Collections at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library in Lexington, Mass. She will focus on John Haley Bellamy's Masonic and fraternal work.

USA! USA! USA! – Team USA plays Portugal in the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, June 22. The match is at 6 p.m. and it is on ESPN.
