5 Ways to Make Memorial Day Weekend Sing in Portsmouth
Memorial Day weekend: eat, drink and be merrily entertained.
Here are five of the many events in Portsmouth Sunday and Monday that will help make your holiday weekend sing.
- Live Music. Tim Gurshin plays at The Dolphin Striker on Sunday, May 25, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. No cover. Check out the Striker's events page for more upcoming performances in their Spring Hill Tavern.
- Celebrate History. "Finding Home: Stories from a Neighborhood of Newcomers," is an exhibit at Strawbery Banke Museum that focuses on the Great Wave of immigration in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The exhibit runs through Oct. 31. Strawbery Banke Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 1 to Oct. 31. - John Paul Jones House. "Mapping the Piscataqua Region: From John Smith to Google Maps" is on exhibit at the John Paul Jones House through Nov. 3 The historic house is at 43 Middle St. and it is open daily, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Catch "Omar." The "Extraordinary Cinema" event is at The Music Hall on May 25, at 7 p.m. (and Tuesday to Thursday). It's a "gripping thriller about betrayal in the Occupied Territories." Read more and purchase tickets.
- Hush Hush Sweet Harlot at The Red Door. On Monday night, May 26, the musical series known as Hush Hush Sweet Harlot has Dag Shaw and Andrew Polakow are on the bill.
