6 Fun Things To Do This Weekend

Great music, great food, an Independence Festival, and some fine sports action are all on tap.

The weekend is packed with great things to do. Here are some fun events that make New Hampshire a special place to be:

Rock On with some really large sneakers: The 2nd annual Sneakers and Speakers Benefit, hosted by Luke and Matt Bonner (of the championship San Antonio Spurs) is Saturday, July 12, 2:30 p.m., at Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth. It's $15 in advance, $25 day of the event. There will be great music, lawn games, food vendors and some really good beer. Click here for more information.

Music on the Piscataqua River: Mary Chapin Carpenter plays the Prescott Park Arts Festival on Saturday, July 12, at 7 p.m. The forecast looks spectacular at this point.

Cherish the Liberty: The American Independence Museum celebrates its American Independence Festival is Saturday, July 12. The festival has numerous activities, including re-enactors, artisans, and history galore. One can see the real Dunlap Broadside, muster with the militias, talk to John Stark and George Washington, and even sample a glass of Independence Ale at the museum's 1775 Folsom Tavern. Check out the museum's website for more information, including parking areas.

Casino Ballroom – Always a Sure Bet: The weekend lineup at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom is Travis Tritt with Jimmy Lehoux on July 11; Yonder Mountain String Band & Railroad Earth with special guests Jake Jolliff and Allie Kral on July 12; and John Hiatt & the Combo and the Robert Cray Band on July 13. Check out the Casino Ballroom website for ticket information, for these and upcoming shows (like Ziggy Marley, coming this fall!)

Live Free and Race: It's race weekend at the NH Motor Speedway

Watch the World Cup:  Team USA is out of it, but Argentina vs. Germany on Sunday, July 13, is bound to be one FIFA World Cup finale for the ages.
