The Last Weekend Before 2014

There's a ton of things to do around the Granite State this weekend.

SATURDAY 

  • Sleigh Rides. There’s still snow on the ground at Painted Blessings Ranch in Webster. Sleigh rides start at 10 a.m. on Saturday and cost $10 per person. Call for reservations and more information
  • Winter Farmers’ Market? Yes, in Tilton, at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring more than 45 vendors offering all kinds of great food, made right here in New Hampshire.
  • Meditation Retreat. The Aryloka Buddhist Center in Newmarket is hosting a day-long winter meditation retreat on Saturday and Sunday. Registration is required. The fee is a sliding scale between $320 and $600.
  • Vaudeville Performers. West Fest presents a new vaudeville show at the Pontine Theatre in Portsmouth on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15.  
  • Judy Garland. LEGENDS: The Music of Judy Garland will be presented at The Players Ring in Portsmouth at 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. The show features Kelly Caufield. Tickers are $12-$15.
  • Gift of Lights. The New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon hosts its light display through Jan. 5. This weekend, the lights are on starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $20 per carload but you can get a discount by bringing food for the Loudon Food Pantry. Patch recently checked out the lights last week.
  • Comedy at the Music Hall. Juston McKinney presents Last Laugh 2013 at The Music Hall in Portsmouth at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $24.25.
  • Never in Vegas. The band performs in Londonderry at the Whippersnappers Restaurant from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

SUNDAY

  • Antiques Show. New England’s Weekly Winter Antiques Show in Milford will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Hampshire Hills Sports and Fitness Club. Admission is $5 and more than 80 dealers are participating. 
  • Grinches of the World, Unite. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester hosts this free talk at 10 a.m. on Sunday addressing both family stress and rampant commercialism that comes with the holiday season.
  • Yoga by Donation. Between 4 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sharing Yoga in Concord will hosts a Seva Yoga class for those who can’t afford regular yoga classes but are willing to offer a donation to take the class.
  • Dance, Dance, Dance. The Queen City Ballroom in Manchester offers a Sunday night ballroom dancing social at 6 p.m. Tickets are $9; free for first-timers.
  • Prophetic Events of the Last Days. KJV Bible Baptist Church in Hooksett hosts a series of talks at 6 p.m. on Sunday offering a fascinating look at Biblical prophecy.
  • Joe McDonald. The musician plays solo from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Whippersnappers Restaurant in Londonderry.
